Need Help?

No stress — this page is here to guide you through every step of working with Roughcut patterns. From downloading files to printing, assembling, and choosing the right size, everything you need is laid out below.

If you get stuck, don’t worry — you can always reach out directly.

Start Here: Print, Stick, Cut

Watch this once. It covers the whole process—from download to a taped-up pattern that's ready for your chosen tutorial.

Once you place your order, you’ll be redirected to a download link on-screen where you can instantly access your pattern.

A copy of the download will also be sent to the email address you used at checkout (sometimes it lands in the spam or promotions folder — so be sure to check there if you don’t see it).

You can download the files to either your phone or computer. Keep in mind:

  • File sizes vary depending on the pattern, usually 15–25 MB.
  • This may be slower or slightly annoying on mobile, so downloading on a computer is recommended if possible.

If you’re having trouble finding or downloading your files:

  1. Search your inbox for “Roughcut”
  2. Check spam/promotions tabs
  3. If you still can’t find it, message me on WhatsApp

Please include a screenshot of your receipt, order number, or proof of purchase (plus your name), and I’ll resend the files manually.

Every Roughcut download includes both A4 and US Letter PDFs.

Even if you accidentally choose the wrong option at checkout, you’ll still receive both formats — so you can pick whichever fits your printer.

What’s the difference?

  • 🌍 A4 → Standard everywhere outside North America (UK, EU, Australia, Asia, Africa, etc.)

    Size: 210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.7 in)

  • 🇺🇸 US Letter → Standard in USA & Canada

    Size: 8.5 × 11 in (216 × 279 mm)

Important:

The pattern pieces are identical — the only difference is how the pages are formatted to fit your printer’s paper size.

📌 Tip: If you’re unsure, print the first page test square and check it measures correctly.

Your pages are coded like a grid:

  • Rows = A, B, C…
  • Columns = 1, 2, 3…
    So row one = A1 → A2 → A3, then row two = B1 → B2 → B3, etc.

How to assemble:

  1. Start with A1 in the top-left.
  2. Place A2 to the right, overlapping right over left so A2’s white edge lines up with A1’s black line. Tape securely.
  3. Continue across the row (A3, A4…) with the same overlap.
  4. Next row: place B1 under A1, overlapping top edge to the black line. Keep going (B2, B3…) then join rows.
  5. Repeat until the full layout matches the guide.

Tips:

  • Use wide clear tape.
  • Go slow — one misaligned tile throws the whole thing off.
  • If lines don’t match, recheck scale (100%) or paper format.

Each pattern includes multiple sizes, shown as different dot & dash lines.

Check the size guide (on page 1–2 of your PDF) to match your measurements.

MEASUREMENTS FOR EACH SIZE WILL BE ON PRODUCT PAGE!

  • Pick the line style that matches your size.
  • Follow that line across all pages.
  • Cut directly on the line, or trace onto pattern paper if you want to keep all sizes.

Tip: If you’re between sizes, blend the lines smoothly for a custom fit.

Most build guides are on the RoughcutOfficial YouTube channel.

  • Not every pattern has a step-by-step yet — I’m adding more (my builds + community tutorials).
  • Many techniques overlap: e.g. armholes on the Short Sleeve Shirt are also shown in the Terrace Jacket tutorial.
  • If you get stuck, join the WhatsApp Makers Group — people are always sharing tips and helping each other out.

  • Pattern looks too big/small?
Re-print with Scale = 100% / Actual Size. Never use “Fit to Page.”
  • Pages don’t line up?
Double-check the test square and your paper format (A4 vs US Letter).
  • Lines are faint?
Switch to B&W, High Quality / Darker print settings.
  • Can’t be bothered with tiling?
Order the A0 version — print it at a copy shop, no assembly needed.
  • Still lost?
Ask in the WhatsApp Makers Group or message me directly for help.
