The Maker’s Shirt is designed as your first true step into building a wearable garment — more involved than a tote or balaclava, yet approachable enough to ease you into shirt making.

With short sleeves that eliminate the challenge of full sleeves under the sewing foot, this project focuses on mastering the essentials: cutting clean armholes, sewing two functional front pockets, and attaching a crisp collar. The unlined construction introduces finishing techniques — whether using an overlocker for the first time or cover-stitching on an industrial machine.

Lightweight, comfortable, and confidence-building, The Maker’s Shirt is the perfect bridge between small projects and more advanced pieces like trousers or the Pillar Jacket.

Skill Level 2: beginner-friendly, with just enough challenge to push you forward.
