Build the full Service side of the Workwear System
1 Service Dungarees
A full-body utility garment built around bib construction, adjustable straps, chest pockets, double-knee panels, rivets, hardware and canvas handling.
2 Service Coveralls
The full service uniform build — one-piece garment construction, centre-front zip, collar, sleeves, facings, pockets, flat-felled seams and full-body assembly.
Each pattern is also available individually, but this bundle is built for makers who want the full Service side of the Workwear System while saving money.
Same world, different lessons
Both garments come from the same world — mechanic uniforms, workshop clothing, industrial service garments and traditional utility wear. They share fabric logic, hardware choices, pocket thinking and reinforcement details, but each teaches those ideas differently.
The dungarees teach bib construction, brace straps, double-knee reinforcement, pocket systems and hardware. The coveralls take that further into a complete one-piece garment with collar construction, sleeves, centre-front zip, facings, full-body assembly and flat-felled seam logic.
Build either one first — the skills carry across.

Built for durable workwear fabrics
Both patterns are designed around fabrics that can handle movement, stress, layering, abrasion, washing, fading and repair. Inside the pattern resources you'll get fabric recommendations, weight guidance, hardware notes, zipper guidance, strap guidance and sourcing support.
Recommended fabrics
- Duck canvas
- Workwear canvas
- Heavy cotton drill
- Cotton twill
- Denim
- Hickory stripe
- Herringbone cotton
Heavier fabrics create more structured, traditional service garments. Midweight fabrics create softer versions that are easier to sew, layer and wear daily.
Tutorial support for both builds
Resources cover the main construction stages of each build — bibs, straps, pockets, double knees, coverall assembly, centre-front zip, collar, sleeves, facings, flat-felled seams, hardware, topstitching and final finishing.
Service Coveralls — tutorial status: coming soon. This build combines the techniques covered in the Dungarees tutorial above. Check back or follow on YouTube for the release.
📐 Printing Box
- Files included for A0, A4 and US Letter for both patterns
- Print at 100% / actual size — never "scale to fit" (print guide included)
- Measure the 2" × 2" test square before cutting any fabric (has to be perfect)
- Print from a laptop/computer for the most reliable print settings
- A0 files can be taken to a local print shop
- Bullseye corner tiling system included for easier home printing
- Printed & Shipped is also available if you'd rather skip tiling & sticking at home
📎 Tiling Pages?
If you're printing at home on A4 or US Letter, your pages need tiling and sticking together before cutting fabric. Full instructions — tiling, sticking, cutting and pre-production — are covered on the Help page.
Open Help Page✂️ Seam Allowance Box
- Every Roughcut pattern (except a few early patterns like the Ushanka Cap and Duffle Bag) already has 1/4" seam allowance built in
- Cut directly on the pattern line — no need to add anything
- Hems, pockets, flat-felled seams and hardware areas may use different allowances — these are stated in the tutorial
- If unsure, refer to the tutorial before cutting
⚠ First Build? Read This First
- Buy a little extra fabric — mistakes happen while learning, and there's no room for re-cutting otherwise
- Don't cut your final fabric until your test square is correct
- Watch the relevant tutorial before cutting into good fabric
- Use scrap or cheap test fabric to practise tricky steps if unsure

Built for your home machine
Both patterns in this bundle are designed and tested on a standard domestic sewing machine. With the right needle, thread and fabric weight for each build, no industrial equipment is needed — the tutorials walk you through exactly what to use at each stage.
